Good morning, it is a chilly 17 degrees but the snow stopped in time for our first in the nation presidential primary. I was lucky enough to see a few of the candidates in town meetings and rallies.
Today’s post features three ecosystems in Cape Cod.
Just before the sun rises, there is a flurry of activity along the beach in Cape Cod. Terns diving for fish, Gulls in flight, sand pipers running along the sand flats. Great time for bird lovers. |
These birds are always on the move |

This was something that I hadn’t seen before. What appears to be bird dwellings along the eroded shore behind the beach. I waited patiently to see if any birds would appear, but no sign of life. |
We awoke today to a balmy minus two degrees temperature reading (-18 Celsius), an event that makes me think of warmer days in the sun at the beach.
One of my favorite beaches is Coast Guard Beach, located on the National Seashore on Cape Cod. I have many photos of it in August and July at the height of the vacation season, but not many off season. We spent a weekend in March of 2004 for my wife’s birthday. It was cold that weekend, but it wasn’t -2.
In the summer the shuttle buses would be stopping here |
At least the snow was off most of the sand |
Coast Guard house, a great photo subject |
Almost monochrome in a appearance, the Atlantic ocean
