It’s another warm February day with temperatures in the low 50s. This has to be a winter for the history books. I’m sharing a few photos taken on the Rockery Trail at the Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary in Topsfield, MA. In just a few weeks this landscape will change from brown and gray to green and lush.
When I was in the Navy, I didn’t own a car until the last year of my 4 year stint. I was dependent on buses and friends for transportation. I had friends in California who gave me a ride for a day in the mountains outside of San Diego. I cannot remember the exact location but the landscapes were stunning.
I was intrigued watching the clouds pour over the ridge line and vaporize when they hit the warmer air. This is one of the few photos I have of the day.
Good morning, today’s photo theme features paths and walkways and this photo was taken in New Ipswich, NH on a warm September day. Something to take my mind off the chore of clearing my driveway and cars of a few inches of snow.
Witt Road, IN Jaffrey NH is one of my favorite spots for photography. It offers a westerly view of Mount Monadnock. Just the spot to catch a sunset. I took this photo in late afternoon in February, 2013. A typical New England wintertime view.
In 1923 Frank Robbins and Marion Buck (Davis) established a 21 mile trail from Mount Watatic in Ashburnham, MA to North Pack in Greenfield, NH. There are several side trails off the Wapack. I hiked this path through the ferns in July of 2010.
I walked this trail through the ferns in July of 2010, a very peaceful place.
I was trying to remember where I was when I took this photo. I’m going to guess Singapore in 1971. I had the opportunity to walk around the older parts of town
Another scanned slide from 1970 Walking along a ridge line in California, watching the clouds break as they flowed over the top I think those are California poppies just right of the path. The official state flower.
Barn interior in Jaffrey, NH This was the location of a photo field trip last December. It was a lot colder and darker than this photo indicates.
