Peterborough Labyrinth

For the last couple of years I have been walking a full size recreation of the Chartres Cathedral Labyrinth that is recreated on the floor of the Peterborough, NH Town House. It’s a great way to start off a new year and reflect upon the old.

A Labyrinth is not a maze, there is single path to the center, there are no dead ends and nothing to solve. The act of purposeful walking calms the mind by causing a temporary suspension of left brain activity.

The Chartres labyrinth even looks a bit like a brain with a stem, right and left lobes and a few interconnections.

This photo was taken New Years Day 2012, however now they ask that no photos be taken from the floor. There is a balcony available for photographers.

The Peterborough Labyrinth is created by volunteers using cutouts and black tape. The original is constructed of stone in France on the floor of the Chartres Cathedral.
