9 years of blogging

“We but mirror the world. All the tendencies present in the outer world are to be found in the world of our body. If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. This is the divine mystery supreme. A wonderful thing it is and the source of our happiness. We need not wait to see what others do.”

Good morning readers, today marks my 9th anniversary of blogging. In 2006 I published a brief post about Governor Richardson’s visit to New Ipswich in December of that year.

Over the intervening years, I experimented with other blogging platforms, newsletters, forums and photo sharing sites. I even tried to make money writing for Examiner.com which paid about penny a click from readers. The money started rolling in, five, seven and even ten dollars a month. I was headed for retirement.

I suppose if my Examiner articles were about  Kim Kardashian or Justin Bieber I might have made some real money, but not many people care about raising worms for vermicomposting. If you made the mistake of clicking on the Kim and Justin Examiner links, you’ll discover my biggest issue with that platform, a plethora of loud obnoxious ads. They crowd every pixel of the page. They even showed the ads to me when I wrote the damn articles. All that for a few bucks a month. To add insult to injury they wouldn’t pay me unless I kept writing. Once I stopped the ten dollar paychecks stopped coming.

I’m back to using a tried and true blogging platform. It does have ads after each post but that keeps the cost of publishing down (free). I make some money with my Amazon.com links and I’m having fun with this.

What’s new for the ninth year?  Probably more of the same. Thanks for your readership.
