I’m posting an unscientific poll about our East Coast earthquake since we have family members from Florida to Maine. Voting will be open for the remainder of August. I may have to create a second poll if the hurricane hits!

I was in my cube in Boxborough at the time. I noticed my desk was shaking, more like swaying. At first I thought it was the guy in the next cube bouncing his knee, which he typically does during our group meetings.

Don't you want to have both a state selection and a yes/no? As it is, you'll get some number of people saying yes from each state, and then a bunch of no answers that you can't tell where they're from, so you have no idea how to weight the yes answers to come up with a % per state that felt it.

Thanks Frank, you are correct in your assessment of the poll. I was lazy and chose the canned poll gadget that blogger provided. It's limited to just a list of questions.
This was more an exercise in getting my family and friends to participate in an online event than gaining useful data. There are no checks on multiple votes either.
What I do wish to see are comments about the quake (such as the one offered by “I don't have a nickname”).
I did not feel the quake but felt a “disturbance in the force” when I saw a flurry of Google+ comments.

What a week. First an earthquake and now I need to go stock up on a weeks worth of groceries, buy a generator, batteries, water, radio, etc… for the impending hurricane.
Yes, the survey does not allow selection of the state and a yes\no for having felt the earthquake.

Stamford, CT: Co-workers felt our building shake (perhaps being built on columns has something to do with that) but I was across the street and didn't feel anything.

We were on the New Jersey Turnpike, driving north to see Steve and Gael (and then on to Lake George to see my family) when it hit, so we didn't feel anything. Didn't even know it happened until we saw a newscast on a TV in a rest stop.
Damn. The biggest quake in over 100 years in VA and we missed it.

Didn't feel the earthquake (except emotionally having gone through Northridge quake in 94)…..anyway, on to new natural disaster, are you ready for the hurricane?

I was lying in the grass, playing with the dogs, and felt it. The dogs didn't seem to care, which surprised me.
